Kids record books on tape as part of reading program

NELSONVILLE — “I always tell them they are a star,” said Carolyn Dennis, an aide in Leslie Yinger’s second grade class at Nelsonville-York Elementary School. Dennis has been working one-on-one with children as they read books and record themselves, reinforcing what they read through audio recording.
For many of these children, it’s the first time they’ve heard themselves as others hear them, the first time they’ve heard a recording of their voice.
