ALBANY — The 2009 season has been one to remember for high school football fans in Athens County. Nelsonville-York, Athens and Trimble all won league titles, but for those in Albany there is still more football to be played.
Perhaps the biggest story of the year has been the surprising success of the Alexander Spartans, whose season has yet to include an ending. After years of enduring extended losing stints, Alexander finds itself in unfamiliar territory as it prepares for the school’s first-ever trip to the Ohio High School State Football Playoffs.
