A couple from The Plains is offering a cash reward for information that leads to the arrest of persons who broke into their outdoor storage building over the weekend.

According to Estel Russell of 99 Dean Road, Lot 45, The Plains, he and his wife, Tanaya, discovered that their storage building was broken into either late Saturday night or in the early morning hours on Sunday. Russell said several items were stolen including a safe box that housed his children’s baby photos, his wedding photos, the family’s birth certificates, Social Security cards, old currency and his wallet.

Russell said his home had been broken into around Christmas so he installed security cameras. During this weekend’s burglary, Russell said the camera equipment was also taken.

Russell said a report was taken by Deputy Brad Jeffers of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, but a copy of the report was not available to The Messenger on Monday due to the records office being closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Russell said he is offering a “large reward” for any information leading to the capture of the burglars. Those with information can contact the Athens County Sheriff’s Office at 593-6633.
