To four outstanding boys basketball players in Athens County to have made the All-Ohio Team: Trimble’s Brayden Weber and Blake Guffey; Alexander’s J.K. Kearns; and Athens’ Elijah Williams.

To Jeff Boals, the new Ohio Bobcats men’s basketball head coach. According to reporting by The Messenger’s Jason Arkley, Boals and OU have agreed in principle on a five-year contract to lead the Bobcats program. Hopefully we see the Bobcats in the NCAA tournament this time next year.

To the planned demolition of the old Factory Street dance studio building in Athens. Ohio University will be making way for a new medical school. We understand the need for progress and know that it must be done; it’s just too bad any time a historic, brick building gets torn down.
