CHEERS ...

- To a handful of wrestlers from Athens County who have competed in the state wrestling meet. This includes Collin Yinger, Noah Inboden and Donovan McCollister from Nelsonville-York; Griffin Chmiel from Alexander; and Ian Joyce from Trimble. Make sure to follow coverage from The Athens Messenger’s sports staff.

- To the Southeast Ohio History Center, which is currently displaying a fascinating exhibit about local high school sports history. We are planning to publish a story about the exhibit, but it’s worth a trip for yourself.

- To the Federal Hocking High School journalism class for welcoming our staff reporter Heather Willard and editor Tyler Buchanan in a recent school visit. The district is lucky to have a nice team of student journalists working for the FHHS student newspaper, “The Shield.”

JEERS ...

- To the report of bike path flooding issues involving the path extension from Athens to County Road 24A (South Canaan). The Messenger featured the issue in a recent news story. There are many who have looked forward to this path extension east of town, and hopefully officials can find a way to make the project work.
