The Athens Farmers Market will begin its Jr. Chef School on July 10, which runs for three consecutive Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Children age 7-12 are invited to attend these classes at the Wednesday farmers market. Students will learn culinary skills from local chefs from The Village Bakery Cafe, Avalanche Pizza and Triple Nickel Diner. The cost is $20 each class and includes all supplies.
“This is my third year organizing Jr. Chef School at the Athens Farmers Market,” said Becky Clark, AFM promotions and events coordinator. “Each year we bring in new chefs from our community, who are passionate and excited to spread their knowledge of cooking with local foods. It is one of the true highlights of our market, and we’re looking forward to another bright summer of learning.”
Students will be given the opportunity to tour the market, meet and talk with various vendors, purchase local foods, and learn how to prepare something new. The dates and restaurants for the 2019 Jr. Chef School are as follows: July 10, Village Bakery Cafe; July 24, Triple Nickel Diner; Aug. 7, Avalanche Pizza.
