OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital and the Diabetes Institute will host a “Kickoff to Diabetes Awareness Month” event on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hospital’s parking lot.

The schedule includes: 9 a.m., free health screenings and kids’ events begin; 10, Meet and Greet with Rufus and Ohio University athletes; 11, Zumba/fitness class; and noon, healthy cooking demonstration. Health care providers and medical equipment suppliers will be on hand.

Other events include: Diabetes Free Clinic, Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 7:30 p.m. at the Heritage Community Clinic at OU’s Grosvenor Hall; and a Diabetes Symposium on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 7 p.m., at OU’s Grover Center, room 115, featuring a discussion on “Using Technology to Help Control Diabetes” by Dr. Frank Schwartz, professor of endocrinology.
