The Gathering Place celebrates open house

The Gathering Place hosted an open house on May 22 from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate its new kitchen space. The kitchen was made possible by a grant from the 317 Board and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation in Nelsonville.  Pictured, from left to right: Mary Kneier (executive director), Anne Sparks (of Athens Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church), Jane Arata (daughter of Anne Stempel for which the Mental Health Partnership Award was named), and Pat Cambridge (of Athens Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church). Awards were given to Community Food Initiatives and Athens Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church for their service for The Gathering Place. The Gathering Place is a nonprofit community support program promoting recovery for adults coping with mental illness.
