Throwback Thursday

Ann (Beasley) Reider, Society’s Number One Songstress. In the early days of television, there was a popular show on WBNS-TV in Columbus called “Appointment with Ann Reider”. Ann Reider was the former Ann Beasley from Athens, OH. Because of her popularity and her singing abilities, in Columbus, she was dubbed “Society’s Number One Songstress”. She sang in exclusive nightclubs like One Fifth Avenue and Armando’s. In her earlier years, Ann was a fashion model in New York City and was featured in Harper’s Bazaar magazine. At the request of her uncle, Athens entrepreneur, Fred R. Beasley, Ann hosted the grand opening of the remodeled Beasley & Mathews Auto Showroom on Carpenter Street. Ann Reider wasn’t the only celebrity at this grand opening, Flippo the Clown was also in attendance.
