Nelsonville City Council

Nelsonville residents give Bernie Roell a standing ovation after he spoke about why he should stay at city manager during Monday’s city council meeting. Roell resigned during executive session at a May 15 special council meeting, but rescinded his resignation. City Attorney Bob Toy issued a legal opinion saying that because Roell is an at-will employee, he can not rescind the resignation.

NELSONVILLE — During Monday’s city council meeting, Bernie Roell questioned his removal as city manager. He said he is within his legal right to rescind his resignation as he never submitted it in writing and the council didn’t vote to accept it.
