ALBANY — The addition of a fire truck is always big, welcome news for any volunteer department.
The Albany Area Volunteer Fire Department is the latest unit in Athens County to add to its fleet. The department announced last week it has acquired a new truck, which will soon make its debut in town.
And new it is — the truck is a 2019 Freightliner model with a 2,500 gallon tank. It will replace an existing tanker.
“We are getting some smaller items added to the unit and hopefully it will be in its new house within a month or just a little longer,” a post on the department’s Facebook page reads. “We will keep everyone posted on the progress of the truck as it goes. We are very blessed at Albany FD to have so much community support ...”
The department serves the village of Albany as well as Lee and Alexander Twps.
The Messenger intends to feature the new addition further once it is in service.
