GLOUSTER — Demolition of the former Wonder Bar building in Glouster is scheduled for demolition this Friday, according to Mayor Miles Wolf, who wants to alert motorists that a section of Route 13 will be closed for safety reasons.

The building, currently owned by Athens County’s land bank, is in poor condition, Wolf said. Route 13 will be closed between Republic Avenue and Main Street between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. as a safety measure during demolition. Traffic will be detoured.

After the building is demolished, the site will be turned over to an end user.

One proposal is for it to go to the Glouster Revitalization Organization.

JoAnn Rockhold, vice president of the organization, said the group wants to have a gazebo, benches and planters at the site, with the surface being paving brick rather than grass. There would also be sidewalk improvements, she said.
