The water slide at the Nelsonville pool is always popular for those in “need for speed.”

NELSONVILLE — The City Water Park in Nelsonville has several special events coming up, including a few free events for youngsters.

The first of these upcoming events is scheduled for Saturday and is sponsored by the Nelsonville-York Elementary School PTO. From 9:30-11:30 a.m., students will be able to celebrate summer break for free. Each student will also receive a breakfast snack and bottle of water.

Next Friday, June 21 will be marked by an event sponsored by the York Twp. Fire Department, with the theme of “kicking off summer.” The first 75 kids will be able to enter the pool for free that day.

The fire department will host another event a week later, on Friday, June 28. A “night swim” is schedule for 8-10 p.m., with attendees invited at a cost of $1 per person. Another night swim is scheduled for July 13 at the same time and cost.

A “Christmas in July” pool party is planned for July 25 and the first 75 kids will enter for free.

A third and final night swim is scheduled for Aug. 9, from 8-10 p.m. with $1 entry per person.
