Friday, June 7

2:44 a.m., Union Street — A citation was issued to Nicolas J. Manuel for Underage Consumption-Intoxication and he was transported to Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.

3:11 p.m., Baker University Center — Officers took a report of a stolen bicycle.

Saturday, June 8

4:38 p.m., Ridges Building 7 — Ohio University Police took a report relating to a possible burglary.

Friday, June 7

12:47 a.m., Sheriff’s office — The sheriff’s office received a switch blade knife by a passerby that found it near Court Street. The knife was put into evidence for destruction.

3:54 p.m., Nelsonville — Deputies responded to New Floodwood Road for a report of a breaking and entering. This case is under further investigation.

Saturday, June 8

8:50 a.m., The Plains — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Athens High School regarding a male subject wearing scrubs talking to himself. Deputies were also advised the male had made suicidal comments and was carrying a hammer. The male was found near Heiner’s Bakery; appeared coherent and denied any talk or thoughts of suicide. Deputies found no evidence that he had committed a crime, so he was released. A short time later the sheriff’s office began receiving calls that he was in the Channingway Boulevard area cussing at people. Deputies located the male on Elm Street, and he seemed confused as to where he was, where he had been, and where he intended to go. After speaking to the male for a few minutes, he agreed to be transported to O’Bleness Hospital for an evaluation.

11:19 a.m., New Marshfield — The sheriff’s office received a theft report from a Dowler Ridge Road residence in New Marshfield. Several hand tools were reported stolen from an outbuilding.

3:47 p.m., Old Route 33 — The sheriff’s office was patrolling the Route 33 area when they observed a male having active warrants for his arrest. The male fled on foot and the Criminal Interdiction Unit with K9 Bora were requested to the scene to track the suspect. K9 Bora located the suspect, who gave up as she closed in on him. Justin Pennington, age 33, of Guysville was arrested and transported to regional jail without incident.

8:23 p.m., Athens — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling Pleasanton Road when they came across an active dispute occurring in the roadway. Deputies were advised that one of the subjects had been caught trespassing on multiple people’s properties. While investigating the allegations, deputies discovered that the subject in question had an active warrant. Tyler J. Barnhart, age 18, of Athens was transported to regional jail without incident. Formal trespass complaints against Barnhart for the properties in question were also issued.

Sunday, June 9

12:34 p.m., Athens — The sheriff’s office responded to Vore Ridge for a report of a dog that had attacked a goat. The owners of the goat advised their neighbor’s two pit bulls had attacked their pygmy goat. The goat had fatal wounds and had to be put down. The deputies contacted the owner of the pit bulls and advised them that the Athens County Dog Warden would be contacting them regarding the incident.

4:47 p.m., New Marshfield — The sheriff’s office was dispatched to a Route 356 residence regarding an active breaking and entering. The owner of the residence confronted the suspects who ultimately fled on foot. The owner was able to capture some video of the incident via her cell phone. The case is currently under investigation.

Friday, June 7

10:26 p.m., Granville Avenue — Athens Police took a report of shots fired at 17 Granville Ave. Kiristen C. Auld, 35, was arrested for using weapons while intoxicated and discharging weapons. A report was taken.

Saturday, June 8

12:02 p.m., West Union Street — Athens Police received a call regarding a vehicle that was damaged while parked in the American Legion parking lot. A report was taken.

1:02 p.m., West Washington Street — Police responded to a report of unknown people in a man’s apartment at 221 W. Washington St. Individuals were charged with drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business, criminal trespass and menacing.

Sunday, June 9

6:42 p.m., Richland Avenue — Officers responded to 414 Richland Avenue for a report of a disorderly man. James Starett, 42, of Athens was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct.

Monday, June 10

5:30 a.m., Carriage Hill — Athens Police took a sexual imposition report.
