Athens Police:

9:34 a.m., O’Bleness Hospital — Athens Police was called to 55 Hospital Drive for a report of a counterfeit $20 bill being used in the cafeteria on May 27. The bill was collected and hospital staff are looking into finding video surveillance.

Wednesday, May 29

12:32 a.m., Glouster — Deputies were conducting patrol in Buchtel during the late hours due to numerous thefts. During the patrol deputies noticed a suspicious person several streets away but were unable to locate the person once on scene. Additional units were requested and the area was searched on foot. Nelsonville Police Department also assisted, but the individual was not located.

7 a.m., Coolville — The sheriff’s office was dispatched to the Ackley Road, Coolville in reference to a female subject who was talking to herself and screaming in the middle of the road. Contact was made with the female subject who advised that she revoked her given name and wanted to be referred to as “Number 55.” The female subject displayed signs of methamphetamine use. She was transported to O’Bleness Hospital for a medical and mental evaluation.

8:38 a.m., Coolville — The sheriff’s office received a report from Arcadia Nursing Home in reference to gasoline being stolen from the sewer system area. Two gallons of gas were reported missing.

4:43 p.m., Stewart — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Federal Valley Resource Center and the Stewart area for a complaint of juveniles causing damage to property. Contact was made with the involved parties, and this matter is under investigation.
