Monday, July 1

8:32 p.m., Charles Street Officers responded to Charles Street for an assault complaint.

Tuesday, July 2

4:45 p.m., West Union Street — A south side student reported that someone entered his apartment sometime over the weekend and stole several items belonging to him and his roommate, including a firearm.

Wednesday, July 3

4:03 a.m.., East State Street — Officers responded to Walmart on East State for a report of a suspicious man. Tommy Pickett, 46, of Nelsonville was found to be in possession of a small bag of suspected meth and a firearm. Pickett was charged with aggravated possession of drugs and was scheduled for Athens Municipal Court on Wednesday. Additional charges are expected.

Tuesday, July 2

3:47 a.m., Chauncey — A deputy responded to Sycamore Street in Chauncey in reference to a suspicious person complaint. Upon making contact with caller they advised there has been at least two male individuals near her home that she did not recognize. They attempted to gain access into an apartment building across from hers and when she confronted them, they left the area. No further action taken.

4:56 p.m., Athens — Detective Jen Atkins observed a male she could visually identify as Austin Conaway walking on Court Street in. Detective Atkins confirmed with Athens County Emergency Communications that there was an active warrant for his arrest and Conaway was taken into custody without issue. Conaway was arrested on an active warrant for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
