Athens County Sheriff’s Office:

Wednesday, June 12

4:43 a.m., The Plains — The sheriff’s office received a report of a vehicle with the keys inside, taken from the North Plains Road area around 4 a.m. The vehicle was located in Lancaster via the vehicle’s On Star located inside this vehicle. The vehicle was recovered by the owner who did not wish to pursue the investigation.

2:01 p.m., Coolville — The sheriff’s office took a report of several items stolen from a Hennen Lane home in Coolville. Deputies are attempting to contact the possible suspect.

4:58 p.m., Athens — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office spoke with a Clarks Chapel Road complainant over the phone in regard to someone stealing ginseng off of his property. Deputies advised the man on options available to him on how to prevent and combat the action from happening again. A report was taken to document the theft.

5:08 p.m., The Plains — A Clinton Street woman called the sheriff’s office advising she had a package delivered in the mail; however, someone had taken it from her porch. There are no leads in the matter at this time.

6:21 p.m., Nelsonville — Deputies responded to Kimberly Road in Nelsonville for a burglary report. Deputies photographed the scene and obtained a list of several firearms that had been taken and reported them as stolen. This case is under further investigation.
