1:37 a.m., New Marshfield — A domestic dispute was reported on Route 56 in New Marshfield. The caller advised a male came into the residence and grabbed his girlfriend’s belongings and made her leave with him. A neighbor advised the two were walking on Route 56 headed away from Athens. Deputies located the two walking and identified the male as James Whiteman, age 37, of Dexter, Ohio. He was found to have two active Hocking County warrants. He was transported to regional jail without further incident.

10:30 a.m., Trimble — Deputies responded to Maple Street in Trimble for reports of a brother making threats to his sister. Upon arrival there were no direct threats of harm being made. However, the sister did advise that her brother had been driving her vehicle, without permission. The male was identified as John Chesser, age 43, of Amesville, and has a nationwide warrant for his arrest. Chesser is also on the Athens County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted List. If anyone has information on Chesser’s whereabouts contact the sheriff’s office.

11:35 a.m., Nelsonville — Deputies conducted a prisoner transport for Hocking County. Upon arrival, Christopher Gates Jr, age 29, of Albany was found to have a clear plastic baggy containing a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine in his shoe. It was placed into evidence to be sent to BCI for testing.

6:51 p.m., New Marshfield — Units responded to Center Street in New Marshfield for a report of a 911 hang up call. Deputies spoke with the complainant who stated her son was intoxicated and causing problems. The son stated he was upset due to not having help doing the dishes. Deputies discovered the male had active felony warrants for his arrest. David Morris, age 55, of Mineral was arrested and transported to regional jail without incident.

11:01 p.m., Athens — Deputies were called to Salem Road for an attempt to locate. The caller advised a male was seen on a stolen UTV. Deputies were able to locate the male and the stolen UTV. Nicholas Dowler, age 30, of Athens was arrested for outstanding warrants. Any future criminal charges will be presented to grand jury.
