Friday, May 24
2:30 a.m., Buchtel — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of vehicles being entered overnight. There are no suspects at this time; the case is being referred to the local agency.
8:31 a.m., Buchtel — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Bessemer Road residence for a report of vehicles entered overnight. This matter is under investigation.
2:16 p.m., Trimble — Deputies responded to Church House Road in Trimble for a burglary report. The caller advised they had arrived at the residence to find it had been forcibly entered and ransacked while they were away. The incident is under further investigation.
Saturday, May 25
10:19 a.m., Stewart — The sheriff’s office received a report from a Lakeview, Ohio resident that his trailer license plates were stolen while parked on Felton Road. A report was taken, and the plates were entered as stolen.
11:32 a.m., Stewart — The sheriff’s office was dispatched to a Haga Ridge Road residence for a report of an automatic gate motor stolen. A report was taken.
Sunday, May 26
5:08 p.m., The Plains — The Criminal Interdiction Unit was patrolling Bean Road and made contact with a suspicious male. Deputies spoke with the male and discovered Jason Smith, age 39 of Chauncey. Smith had an active warrant for theft from Athens County Municipal Court. Smith was arrested and transported to regional jail without incident.
7:54 p.m., Guysville — Deputies responded to River Road in Guysville for a report of a suspicious female. Deputies made contact with the female who was found to have active felony warrants out of Athens County. Zoila Silva, age 20, of Mount Sterling was arrested and transported to regional jail.
8:03 p.m., The Plains — The Criminal Interdiction Unit received a report of an intoxicated male in the parking lot of The Plains McDonald’s. Upon making contact with the subject, a consent to search his vehicle was obtained and items consistent with controlled substances, were located. Richard L. Dodson, age 35, of Logan was placed under arrest for possession of controlled substances and transported to regional jail.
Monday, May 27
7:17 p.m., The Plains — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Ohio Avenue in The Plains for a report of an unknown male stealing the victim’s purse. The complainant stated she was approached by a male in his early 20s asking if she needed work done. The male stole the victim’s purse from her car hood of and took off. This case is pending further investigation.
Saturday, May 25
10:12 p.m., Athens — OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital called Athens Police to pick up a sexual assault kit from a reported rape. Staff advised that the victim declined to speak with officers and wishes to remain anonymous. The incident is alleged to have taken place around 4:45 a.m. on Saturday.
Monday, May 28
8:42 p.m., Richland Avenue — Athens Police responded to 527 Richland Ave. for a report of an inactive burglary. Jewelry and other items valued at $1,420 were reported stolen.
