Athens County Sheriff’s Office:
Monday, June 3
7:43 p.m., Buchtel — Deputies responded to State Route 78 in Buchtel regarding a stolen phone. While speaking with the complainant, he advised that he had recently met a female and did not know her last name. He advised that he let her use his phone and then she left the residence with his phone. At this time the identity of the possible suspect is unknown.
8:12 p.m., Fisher Road — The sheriff’s office was dispatched to Fisher Road for a report of theft. Deputies spoke with the complainant who stated that his car had become disabled and had pulled off the roadway. Over the weekend someone had stolen the wheels, tires and several other parts to his vehicle. This case is currently under investigation.
8:16 p.m., Athens — The sheriff’s office received confirmation that Laine Vance, age 38, of Pomeroy was arrested by the Ohio University Police Department pursuant to active Athens County warrants. Deputies transported Vance to the regional jail without incident.
