Friday, May 10

10:43 a.m., Joneswood Drive — Julie Metzer called Athens Police to report that $20 had been taken from her vehicle some time overnight. A report was taken.

12:22 p.m., Ring Street — William Dombroski reported a theft from his vehicle. An Ohio and a Florida driver’s license were reported missing. A report was taken.

3:58 p.m., Walmart — Officers recovered 11 counterfeit $20 bills from Walmart that were used between May 6-9.

Sunday, May 12

10:56 a.m., Richland Avenue Park — Officers responded to Richland Avenue for a report of a man that pulled a knife on a woman and that the woman pulled a gun on the man. Upon arrival, officers took statements from several people. John Burchfield was arrested for domestic violence. A report was taken and the charges were served.

7:33 p.m., Hope Drive — Officers were advised of an assault between two juveniles at the playground on Hope Drive. A report was taken.

Saturday, May 11

2:20 a.m., Nelsonville — The sheriff’s office responded to Carbondale Road for a report of criminal mischief. The deputy learned that a vehicle’s tire had been cut. A report on the incident was taken and the case is currently under investigation.

9:02 a.m., The Plains — Deputies were dispatched to Arbor Drive in The Plains for a report of a stolen vehicle. The complainants reported a silver 2011 Chevy Malibu taken from their residence sometime in the early morning hours.

11:13 a.m., United Lane — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to United Lane regarding a complaint filed by the owner of Athens Outdoors. The complaint stems from someone dumping several bags of clothing into the business dumpster. The event was captured by video surveillance and the case is currently active.

3:54 p.m., Jacksonville — Deputies responded to Palmer Street in Jacksonville for a report of a knife pulled on a man. Deputies spoke with the complainant who stated he bought a Playstation 2 from two unknown men who pulled a knife on the complainant due to being short $1 for the transaction. The complainant stated he didn’t know who the men were.

Sunday, May 12

8:42 p.m., Chauncey — The sheriff’s office responded to the Chauncey Marathon for a report of a dispute. Deputies spoke with the complainant who stated he was in a vehicle when individuals inside the vehicle were threatening him. Deputies were made aware that the complainant had active Athens County warrants. Nicholas Congrove, age 38, of Nelsonville was arrested and transported to regional jail without incident.
