LANCASTER — Lancaster Post 11 built an early lead in taking an 8th District game on Wednesday against Athens Post 21.
Post 11 led 10-0 after two innings, leading to a 13-3 win over Athens Post 21.
Lancaster scored four times in the first, and six more runs in the second. When Athens scored a run in the third, Lancaster answered with two in the third to lead 12-1.
Athens scored single runs in the fourth and fifth to make it 12-3, but Post 11 scored a final run in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.
Post 21 finished with 10 hits. Dalton Skinner was 3 for 3 with an RBI, hitting a triple. Andy Merckle was 2 for 4 with a run scored. John Hobbs was 2 for 3 with an RBI, hitting a double. Isaac York and John Kimble each had a hit and run scored. Cameron Bayha had a hit.
York took the loss for Athens, giving up 10 runs on eight hits and a walk in two innings. Only three runs were earned, as Athens had seven errors in the field. York struck out a batter.
Hobbs pitched the final 3 1-3 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and six walks. Two of the runs were earned, as he struck out two.
Dickerson led Post 11 with three hits, three runs and two RBIs. Axe earned the pitching win, working five innings and allowing an earned run. He struck out four.
Athens is 2-9 overall. Post 21 will play a doubleheader at Logan on Saturday. The first game will begin at 1 p.m.
Athens will host Beverly-Lowell in a doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch from Rannow Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
