The Athens Post 21 Senior Legion baseball team dropped a doubleheader on Sunday against visiting Beverly-Lowell.
Beverly-Lowell won the first game 12-0, then won the second game, 13-0, at Rannow Field.
Beverly-Lowell scored in every inning of the first game, a five-inning affair. It led 5-0 before scoring six runs in the fourth and a final run in the fifth.
Athens had one hit, a single by Nate Durst. John Kimble drew a walk.
Bradford pitched 3 1-3 innings for Beverly-Lowell without allowing a hit or run. He walked one, striking out six.
Jacob Phillips took the loss for Athens, pitching 3 innings. He allowed seven runs, five earned, on five hits and three walks. Kimble pitched the final 2 innings of relief, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and two strikeouts.
Beverly-Lowell finished the game with 12 hits, led by Evan Gandee’s 3 for 3 day. He had two RBIs and a run.
Beverly-Lowell also won the second game, 13-0. It scored five runs in each of the first two innings to lead 10-0. It added three more runs in the fourth.
Andy Merckle, Nate Durst and Carsey each had singles for Post 21.
John Hobbs took the loss, allowing five runs on two hits and three walks in 1-3 of an inning. Dalton Skinner pitched two innings, giving up five runs while Colby Carsey pitched 1 2-3 innings, allowing three runs.
Beverly-Lowell had 12 hits, with three players having two-hit games.
Post 21 is scheduled to host Logan in a doubleheader on Sunday, with the first game starting at 1 p.m.
