An Avalanche of good deeds

The folks at Avalanche Pizza in Athens have always been into community service. Now they are at it again. This time they packed up a trunk full of bag lunches packed with hearty sandwiches and chips. They set up a stand in the parking lot of The Plains Library. Neighborhood kids and a few parents slowly came to pick up their free lunch. This giving spirit comes at a good time. The public schools are on an extended spring break and many students depend on the school’s free lunch program. John Gutekanst, (left) owner of Avalanche Pizza, and Christopher Tricarichi gladly hand out a bag lunch to all comers.
